Circles & Community Gatherings
Honest conversations. Held with care.
Something happens when people sit together and tell the truth.
The defenses soften. The performance drops. The real things — the things you have been carrying quietly — find room to be said out loud. And in being said out loud, they become less heavy.
Our community circles are a core practice at KinJour Gathering. These are facilitated spaces where people come together not as strangers for long — but as people in the process of becoming kin. What makes it work is not the topic or the agenda. It is the quality of the space, the skill of the facilitation, and the shared commitment to being real with each other.
What to Expect
Every circle is different, shaped by the theme, the season, and the people in the room. What stays consistent is the container: a skilled facilitator, clear community agreements, and a deep commitment to making sure every person feels genuinely seen and heard.
Circles may gather around themes like: identity and belonging, creative expression, leadership and power, grief and transition, rest and restoration — or simply: your story, told on your own terms.
The Research Behind the Practice
The community circle model at KinJour Gathering is grounded in Dr. Kim's original research on the Arts-Based Sister Circle Model and its impact on self-efficacy and empowerment. This is not a casual or ad-hoc format. The structure, facilitation approach, and community agreements are drawn from years of research, practice, and careful refinement.
The evidence is consistent: people grow faster, heal more fully, and build more lasting change when they do not do it alone. Gathering together is not the soft part of the work. It is the work.
Who Is Welcome
Empowerment coaching at KinJour Gathering is for anyone ready to do the work. There are no prerequisites — no specific goal required, no tidy narrative, no clear sense of what is next. You need curiosity, a willingness to be honest, and enough trust to show up.
